Water is the most precious natural resource in the world. Without it, there would be no life on earth. Unfortunately, water is becoming scarce and there are various factors leading to this scarcity.

According to a report by the world economic forum,

The water crisis is the number one global risk based upon the devastation it is likely to create. Particularly in Pakistan the situation is alarming as Pakistan, though, bestowed with the world’s largest glacial resources is facing the prospect of a water crisis.

The water crisis is When waters run dry, people can’t get enough to drink, wash, or feed crops, and economic decline may occur. In addition, inadequate sanitation — a problem for 2.4 billion people — can lead to deadly diarrheal diseases, including cholera and typhoid fever, and other water-borne illnesses. I have an empathy towards those areas as I want to see them happier and it will make me joyous and give satisfaction and peace of mind.

I want to discuss the water crisis of Pakistan and try to solve it and give some suggestions about how to solve and overcome these crises. In underdeveloped areas of Pakistan, there is a major water crisis problem.

Factors

There are several factors that have contributed to the water crisis in Pakistan, such as an increase in population in urban areas, agriculture, mismanagement of the water system, and climate change. If the water crisis in Pakistan is not solved, the impact felt by people in the country will worsen.

1)Population increase:

Pakistan is the sixth-largest country in the world with more than 220 million people. Pakistan’s population in 2010 was 179.42 million. By 2025, Pakistan’s water demand could reach 274 million acre-feet while the supply of water could remain at 191 million-acre-feet. In this way, urban areas are suffering from water scarcity.

2)Agriculture:

Pakistan is producing the main Crops like rice, wheat, and corn, and all these required 95% water. Poor water management and poor quality water are wasting most part of our water. As well Pakistan is an underdeveloping country, so it is not having efficient irrigation systems. In this way, water losses are more than 60%.

3)Climate change:

Pakistan is getting more water part from the Rainwater as well from snow and glaciers. But Our industrial area is producing more and more impure smoke that accumulates in our air and causes acid rain that will unhygienic for us and will cause scarcity problems and various syndromes.

4)Water shortage

It is also contributing to an increase in waterlogging and salinity. Water reduction is also creating problems in sewerage disposal and hence increasing pollution and temperature. The Pakistani government has to take significant measures to cope with the looming threat of the water crisis.

In this pandemic Situation, I want to work on this problem through Social media awareness by taking care of myself and others.

Raise Awareness

Firstly, social media can help us raise awareness of the water crisis. Here are a few ways to use social media in this manner:

  • Start a campaign highlighting the crisis our country/ area could potentially face as a result of a diminishing supply of water.
  • methods to utilize wastewater.
  • Connecting with influencers and activists, encouraging them to spread the word to their follower base.
  • Creating hashtags people can use to follow and engage in the discussion.
  • Share useful information on what people can do to help and prevent the coming water shortage like storage of water, not waste of water lavishly.
  • Encourage people to donate to the cause.
  • Measure your water usage through some social media apps like Water footprint calculator, water buddy water usage tracker.
  • I will more educate myself too for the sake of spreading awareness among people through mediums like UNICEF water, UN-WATER, and Water.org, etc.

👉If we relate this water crisis with entrepreneurship,

  1. we will start making fresh water available to the target point
  2. we can join hands with the industries to accelerate solutions about how to tackle the water crisis and prevent ‘Day Zeroes’.
  3. We can start running a small-scale shop for water management as an entrepreneur. It will ensure water efficiency, manage risks, waste management.

After sharing this problem with my circle members, they also suggest working on this problem with definite and brilliant ideas to sort out this problem in a specific area. All were convinced to solve this problem using great tactics.

Not everyone is aware of the rising disaster that could befall the world if we were to go into a water deficit.

So, I will just take my part to solve this problem.
